Meet Your QA Tech: Susanna Becerra
Each case of Marco's food that you order has been cooked by our talented chefs and then thoroughly checked by our QA team. Meet your QA Tech, Susanna. She joined the Ready Foods family 13 years ago as a part of our packing team, filling Marco’s boxes with bags of our soups and sauces. Today, she is part of the QA team at our Dahlia building, which also happens to be right in her neighborhood.
Besides having a short commute, Susanna says she loves her job (Yes, she really uses the word “love!”) because it is interesting to her. Every day is a little different, we are making different recipes that she must check, there are new ingredients to create specifications around, thermometers to constantly calibrate, data loggers to log, kettles to swab and more.
QA is a crucial part of our cooking process. We work diligently each day to stick to our mission of preparing “safe, consistent and high quality food” and we couldn’t do that without people with a keen eye for safety, like Susanna.
“We have a big opportunity every day to make sure things are [of high] quality and safe,” says Susanna.
Each time someone steps into our QA lab at Dahlia and experiences the calm, collected atmosphere, that’s in big part in thanks to Susanna. Her organizational skills are sharp and she is not afraid to kindly call someone out when a mistake has been made, and then work with her teammates to fix it. We are grateful for her tuned palate that tastes our food before they head out the door and her attention to detail each step of the way that ensures what you bring into your kitchen is safe, delicious and just like the last case you ordered.
Outside of Ready Foods, Susanna doesn’t take a break from food. She enjoys making tacos and tamales for her family. Her own recipes will often feature a Marco’s salsa or sauce too! She trusts the work she in ensuring the food we make is safe and she says she would feed it to her family any day of the week.
